Some of our groups allow visitors to have one taster session. If you wish to know more, contact our Groups Coordinator using the “groups” link on the contact us page. Please do not attend a group meeting without prior permission from the group leader. Group leaders are not required to justify their decision.
We have existed as a group since the very birth of Moors Edge u3a, and some of us have belonged to the group through all these last 11 years. There are 14 of us, and we make a merry sound. Our practice times really are fun, and everyone is involved in the choice of music, and the way we sing it.
Every year we do a concert at Roborough Methodist Church and also at Crownhill Methodist Church for their funds, which has always been well received. We also provide musical contributions at the u3a birthday and Christmas parties, as well as the Glenholt Community Christmas party.
We are always open to new members, the main requisite simply being able to sing in tune. We are always especially pleased to welcome new gentlemen so as to retain a good balance of male and female voices.

The Singing For Fun group (also known as The Woolwell Singers) had their annual summer concert in Roborough Methodist Church.
The theme this year was "Colours". Peter, the husband of one of the singers,introduced the singers and readers with funny jokes and stories. He also had all his notes on coloured paper to match the song colours.
The first colour was red and this was followed by Norman reading the poem "Dust If You Must" by Pam Ayres. The next colour was yellow. Ros read "They Should Have Asked My Husband" by Pam Ayres. Ros paused during the reading to look pointedly at her husband sitting in the corner. Carol read "The Crocodile" by Roald Dahl. The next two songs were gold and silver.
Janet, group leader and pianist, played some music on the church electric organ and we had to guess the composers. I only managed to get three correct and was surprised to learn that The Bridal March was composed by Wagner.
Green was the next colour, followed by Val reading "The Price of Debauchery" by Roald Dahl. Ceri read one of her own poems about a child pretending to be a purple horse stamping its feet. Next were two songs about the colour blue. Jacky read the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. This poem has become the motto of The Red Hat Society for ladies of a certain age. Finally we all sung "Wonderful World" together.
Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided in the church after the concert.
All of us who attended the concert on a very hot summer's day would like to thank the group for the time and effort they put into their annual concert.
