Concert by The Moor's Edge Singers

The Moor's Edge Singers, AKA The Singing for Fun Group, will be having their annual summer concert on Wednesday 22nd July at 2:00 pm.
There is no charge to attend, just come in and take a seat. There will be a retiring collection which will go towards church funds. The church is in dire need of a new roof and all contributions will be very welcome.
The theme this year is colours. Peter will be doing his customary humorous introductions. I understand he is collecting a selection of coloured hats which he will wear with the appropriate songs. Very brave of him!
Boat Trip from Barbican to Calstock
A boat trip has been arranged for Saturday 13th June. It will start at 1:45 pm from the Barbican and travel up the River Tamar to Calstock, arriving back at the Barbican at 6:45 pm. The trip, which will last 5 hours, will have a jazz band aboard. There will be about an hour at Calstock if you wish to visit the pub or the local chippy.
The cost is £28.50 and bookings will be taken at the APRIL general meeting. There is no limit on numbers, but we can get a 10% discount if we have 20+ members on the trip.

Message from Dee
As the BBQ's and race day have been so popular I'll be organising them again in 2026. In the meantime I'd like to gauge interest in a coach trip, initially on 3rd June, to Abbotsbury Swannery or Subtropical Gardens on the Jurassic Coast.
This is a link to the Swannery Abbotsbury Swannery | On Dorset's Jurassic Coast | Abbotsbury Swannery and this to the Gardens Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens | On Dorset’s Jurassic Coast | Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens
My plan is to have a coach from Newquay, picking up in Exeter at the Honiton Road Park and Ride. I've had some quotes but won't be able to give costings until I know how many members, and guests, would like to go.
I'll need to know the following:
- Name(s)
- Which u3a you belong to
- Swannery or Gardens
- Newquay or Exeter (or other?) pick up
- Contact phone number

Also....
Dee McVey, Okehampton u3a, is now negotiating a deal with Newton Abbot Race Course to include:
- entrance to the Paddock enclosure
- access to a box (big room), overlooking the winning post, all afternoon
- Tea/coffee and canapes ... small pasties, mini quiche, chicken nuggets, sausage on a stick, sandwiches etc.
It'll be on May 6th and she's hoping the cost will be no more than £40pp. The maximum number is 50 and there are already 27 places booked ... so, if you'd be interested in going, please contact Dee asap on chair@okehampton-u3a.org.uk.
