April

The newly renamed Medium Walks group travelled to Dartington courtesy of the 1A and 80 buses. We had a lovely walk through beautiful Spring flowers and foliage,  and it was really good to see how previously flooded areas were now green and flourishing. We followed the public footpath to Totnes, arriving in good time for a picnic lunch in the park. We had bright sunshine, a little windy at times, but not as windy as Plymouth experienced, fortunately!

February

We were lucky with the weather today in as much it did not rain. 13 of us did a 3.4 mile walk at Burrator. Taking in part of the disused railway passing Lowery Barn which has now been restored. I remeber passing it in the late 80s when I started walking the moors it was derelict. Then ventuered on to the shores of the reservoir, the path was very waterlogged which we had to negotiate. Reaching the road once again we made our way back to the start at the Quarry car park.

January

Because of the extreme rainfall we have had, and all wanting a bit of a walk and fresh air, Saltram was the answer. We walked the perimeter, starting on the path by the river then past Chelston Meadow and back to car park and coffee and snack in the cafe. It was only a short walk but there were snowdrops out so we were not disappointed. ROLL on Spring and Summer!!!

November

The walk today was a suburban walk. The leader had some local knowledge of the area and took us to an amazing view point overlooking Plymstock and beyond. Most of us had never been so it was a treat.  Then we went on to Radford Lake and a visit to some ruins which, as with most ruins, they have ghostly tales. These were of a Monk wonders the grounds and mysterious bells which can be heard. Also, a White lady haunts the ruins of the boat house. Luckily none of them appeared. We then went on to Oreston Quay for lunch and finally followed the old railway line back to Morrisons. 3.5 miles all in all.
