Some of our groups allow visitors to have one taster session. If you wish to know more, contact our Groups Coordinator using the “groups” link on the contact us page. Please do not attend a group meeting without prior permission from the group leader. Group leaders are not required to justify their decision.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR FOR THE WALKS BEING UNDERTAKEN AND THE WEATHER ON THE DAY OF THE WALK.

Three members braved the weather today which started very wet; windy and misty up on Shaugh Moor. The normally magnificent views were sadly lacking. The walk through Wotter proved how bad it was when we saw a Dartmoor Pony walking up the steps out of a house. He had been sheltering in their porch. Fortunately the weather cleared and we were dry by the time we got back to our cars at Cadover Bridge.
March
The sun showed its face for our first walk as the long walks group. Four of us met at the Arboretum car park and started up on the path around the base of Sheepstor. Then on the road to the dam, which was flowing nicely. Coffee at the leat outlet and up onto the old railway line. Along the leat and a minor road to Cross Gates where we had lunch. Then once again following the leat until we met a path coming off of the leat to the ruin of Leather Tor farm Which is now derelict to make way for Burrator in 1924 after sitting there since around 1300. Then it was down hill passing over Leathertor bridge and back to the car park, around 6 miles.
